Add your first host and alert in Zabbix
Install an agent, link a template, and get a working alert — the minimum useful Zabbix setup.

Install the agent
Install the Zabbix agent on the host you want to monitor and point it at your Zabbix server address. Open the agent port (10050) from the server to the host.
Create the host and link a template
In the Zabbix web UI, create a host entry with the agent interface, then link a built-in template such as "Linux by Zabbix agent". The template brings a ready set of items and triggers.
Turn a trigger into a notification
Define an action that sends on a trigger — for example high CPU or an unreachable agent — to email or a chat channel, with an escalation step so it is not missed.
